Eight PCC Champions and Six Hall of Famers Highlight Official Field for 2024 Principal® Charity Classic
Des Moines, Iowa (May 24, 2024) – The Principal® Charity Classic announced the official field list for next week’s tournament. Eight past champions and six World Golf Hall of Famers will be competing May 31 – June 2 in Des Moines, giving the 2024 Principal® Charity Classic one of its strongest and most entertaining fields ever competing at the newly renovated historic Wakonda Club.
Former champions in the field include defending champion Stephen Ames (2023, 2021), Jerry Kelly (2022), Kevin Sutherland (2019), Tom Lehman (2018), Scott McCarron (2016), Mark Calcavecchia (2015), Tom Pernice, Jr. (2014) and three-time winner Jay Haas (2012, 2008, 2007).
World Golf Hall of Fame members competing include Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, José María Olazábal and Vijay Singh.
Other notable players appearing at Wakonda include 2022 Charles Schwab Cup Champion Steven Alker, Miguel Angel Jiménez, Jim Furyk, Darren Clarke and David Toms. Chad Campbell will make his PGA TOUR Champions during the tournament.
This year’s sponsor exemptions are Notah Begay III, Thomas Bjørn, Scott Parel, Esteban Toledo and Boo Weekley. A four-time PGA TOUR winner, Begay will be competing in Des Moines for the second straight year. Bjørn, a three-time European Ryder Cup selection, is making his first appearance in Iowa. Parel has four PGA TOUR Champions victories and finished second at Wakonda in 2018 and 2019. Four-time PGA TOUR Champions winner Esteban Toledo is playing for the eleventh consecutive tournament. Weekley, a three-time winner on the PGA TOUR, will be making his PCC debut.
