We strive to create a safe, fun, and memorable experience for all spectators. Please take advantage of the information and resources offered here, which have been created to enhance your experience at the Principal Charity Classic. 

Schedule of events.

SPECIAL NOTE: New for 2024!
The tournament main entrance will now be on the south side of the course off Watrous Ave.
Spectators will enter the tournament grounds near the corner of Watrous Ave. and Southwest 14th St. in front of the 8 tee box.
There is no public entrance onto the tournament grounds from Park Ave.

Tickets.

Tickets:
All tickets will be delivered electronically via email.

Ticket options include Good any day, Good any day 5 pack, and Trophy Club.

Good any day tickets provide single day access to the Wakonda Club tournament grounds, including open to the public fan hubs.
Trophy Club tickets access to complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks as well as a concession voucher while enjoying the tournament from a designated open-air patio.

Ticket prices increase the week of the tournament. Tickets may be purchased here.

Parking.

General Parking.
Free parking for general public, ADA, and volunteers at the downtown park and ride
ramp. When using GPS navigation, use 830 6th Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309, to be directed to the parking area. The entrance to the Park & Ride is one block west, on 7th Street. Upon arrival guests will be directed by posted road signage.

VIP Parking.
VIP parking is located in the CDS Global section of the Bell Avenue Business Suites. When using GPS navigation, use 1901 Bell Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50315.

When utilizing VIP Parking, guests will board a shuttle to Wakonda Club. Guests will be dropped off inside the Wakonda clubhouse parking lot and proceed through security and ticket scanning tents prior to entering tournament grounds

Anyone entering this parking space must have their electronic parking pass available and ready to be scanned. VIP parking is not available for purchase.

Ride Share drop off & pick up.
Looking to ride share or get dropped off at the tournament? Set your destination to Wakonda Christian Church, 3938 Fleur Dr, Des Moines, IA 50321, to dropped in the tournament ride share zone. From here spectators will be assisted with crossing Fleur Dr. to enter the tournament grounds.

Mobility-impaired spectators.
ADA parking is available within the general parking ramp. When using GPS navigation, use 830 6th Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309, to be directed to the parking area. Upon arrival show the attendant your ADA parking pass to be directed to designated ADA parking. The Principal Charity Classic does offer accessibility services shuttles on course for those in need. Visit one of our information booths to request a shuttle within Wakonda Club.

Fan Amenities.

Merchandise.

Get your Principal Charity Classic gear from the official merchandise tent on-course near the main entrance. The merchandise tent will be open gates open to gates close Wednesday – Sunday.

Restrooms.

Restrooms will be located at the main entrance, 12th green, 14th green, 18th green and near the practice area.

Family comfort station.

The family comfort station is an air-conditioned space with soft seating, changing station and power located within the Family Zone near the practice area.

Concession stands.

There will be numerous concessions stands, open to the public, located throughout the golf course serving a variety of items. No outside food and beverage can be brought into the tournament grounds.

First-aid.

A first-aid station will be located within the Fan Village at 14 green. Teams of paramedics and medical professionals are on duty throughout the tournament. If you need medical assistance, please get the attention of any volunteer or tournament staff member.

Guidelines.

What to bring.

Sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, hat and smart phone for digital pairings guide and tournament map. Please become familiar with and adhere to the TOUR’s standard tournament policies which include a Permitted/Prohibited Items List and a Bag Policy.

Bag policy.

There are strict limitations on what bags are allowed on tournament grounds. The following types of bags are permitted:

  • Bags smaller than 6″ x 6” x 6”
  • Clear bag smaller than 12″ x 6” x 12”
  • One gallon plastic freezer bag
  • Medically necessary and diaper bags

No other types of bags, purses or backpacks will be allowed. Folding chairs are allowed, but please remove and the leave the chair bag behind. All small personal items will be subject to inspection at the gate. Unauthorized items will be confiscated. For your safety, all patrons will pass through magnetometers at the entry gate.

Water bottles.

All fans are permitted and encouraged to bring one (1) empty, clear water bottle that is no more than 32 oz. Water filling stations are available throughout the course.

Autographs.

We ask that spectators only obtain autographs at the designated Autograph Zone near the driving range. On-course autographs are not permitted.

Cell phones.

Spectators are allowed to carry mobile devices on the golf course with the volume setting on silent or vibrate. Devices may be used to capture video, audio and photos (content) throughout tournament week. Content may be used for personal purposes only; no commercial use. There can be no live streaming or real-time coverage. Please be respectful of play and do not interfere with players, caddies or media. Failure to comply with this policy may result in the revocation of your ticket in accordance with the posted PGA TOUR Spectator Mobile Device Policy.

Weather.

Plan your attire accordingly by checking the weather before you attend the Principal Charity Classic.
If it rains on any day of the tournament, play will continue as long as it is deemed safe to do so. All Corporate Hospitality will be open every day, rain or shine. The PGA TOUR Champions and tournament staff will always keep spectators informed at the earliest possible moment of any changes made on this policy based upon situational circumstances.

In the case of inclement weather, a “Weather Warning” notification will be posted on all electronic scoreboards on the course. When this message appears, spectators are advised to take immediate precautions by evacuating bleachers and hospitality tents. In the event of a “Severe Weather” warning and suspension of play, please proceed to the bus loading area to be returned to your car for safety. A suspension of play is preceded by an air horn signal. Suspension of play is a stoppage, not necessarily a cancellation of play for the day. Notification of continuation of play will be given via the tournament website and social media channels. In the event of a weather warning, please avoid hill tops, high places, isolated trees, golf carts, wire fences and open areas.
If play is suspended, please close your umbrella and seek shelter immediately.

Emergency Management.

The Principal Charity Classic follows the Polk County Comprehensive Emergency Plan (CEP) for all disaster and emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation operations conducted during the tournament.
