Principal® Charity Classic adds sensory space in 2024
Providing a designated space for those that may need a break from the excitement
DES MOINES, Iowa– The Principal® Charity Classic brings a lot of excitement to Wakonda Club, but some may need to take a break. In partnership with Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa the Principal Charity Classic will now have a designated sensory space on course.
Within the Blank Children’s Hospital Family Zone, near the practice area, spectators will find the KultureCity pop up sensory tent. This space will provide a quiet place for anyone in need to step away for a break. KultureCity’s Sensory Inclusive program is designed to help guests with sensory needs like PTSD, autism, dementia, and strokes feel welcome.
“We are proud to bring a new spectator amenity to the course.” said Alex McCarty Principal Charity Classic Tournament Director. “This partnership helps ensure that all guests are accepted and included at the Principal Charity Classic.”
In addition to the stationary tent Variety has sponsored sensory bags. These bags, available for pick up in front of the tent, are designed to help both adults and children with sensory needs. Filled with items that can help lessen sensory overload, the bag includes headphones, fidget items, and ID cards.
