Eight Past Champions and Eight World Golf Hall of Famers Highlight Field for 2025 Principal® Charity Classic Committed to Des Moines
Des Moines, Iowa (May 23, 2025) – The Principal® Charity Classic announced the official player field list for next week’s tournament. Eight past champions and eight World Golf Hall of Famers will be competing May 28 – June 1 in Des Moines, giving the 2025 Principal® Charity Classic one of its strongest and most entertaining fields competing at the historic Wakonda Club.
Past champions in the field include defending champion Ernie Els (2024), Stephen Ames (2023, 2021), Kevin Sutherland (2019), Tom Lehman (2018), Brandt Jobe (2017), Scott McCarron (2016), Tom Pernice, Jr. (2014), and three-time winner Jay Haas (2012, 2008, 2007).
World Golf Hall of Fame members competing include Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, José María Olazábal and Vijay Singh.
Other notable players appearing at Wakonda Club include Darren Clarke, John Daly, Miguel Angel Jiménez, and Kenny Perry.
This year’s sponsor exemptions are Notah Begay III, Scott Parel, Heath Slocum, Mario Tiazini and Boo Weekley. A four-time PGA TOUR winner, Begay will be competing in Des Moines for the third straight year. Parel has four PGA TOUR Champions victories and finished second at Wakonda Club in 2018 and 2019.
Slocum, who finished T6 last year, will compete for the second straight year. Tiziani will be playing at Wakonda for the fourth straight year, while Weekley, a three-time winner on the PGA TOUR, will be playing in Iowa for the second year.
