The Principal Charity Classic is dedicated to helping Iowa youth succeed. We believe youth can achieve more with support from their community.
Tournament impact.
Together, we have raised more than $53 million for Iowa children’s charities since 2007.
Each year, the Principal Charity Classic impacts the lives of more than 130,000 youth in philanthropic areas including education and culture, financial security and stability, and health and wellness.
The Principal Charity Classic has an annual estimated community impact of $26 million, according to the Catch Des Moines economic impact calculator.
This figure includes increased business for area hotels, restaurants, shopping and our annual charitable contributions.
How it works.
Tournament Charity Partners.
The Principal Charity Classic donates funds to four primary nonprofits known as our Tournament Charity Partners. All of our Tournament Charity Partners are dedicated to improving the lives of youth in our local community. These organizations embody the sole purpose of the Principal Charity Classic.
Legacy Project.
The Legacy Project initiative is a commitment to our mission of helping Iowa youth succeed. This community-driven work-based learning project prepares youth for future employment, by partnering with others to help introduce youth to a variety of professional and technical skills that will increase their knowledge and confidence.
Drive for 515 Challenge.
The Principal Charity Classic Drive for 515 challenge is helping to support Iowa youth while providing a new element of fun and excitement to tournament play. During tournament competition, a donation will be made to the Legacy Project when a PGA TOUR Champions players make an ace, birdie, or eagle on holes 16, 17 and 18.
- A birdie or one under par on holes 16,17 or 18 – $515
- An eagle or two under par on holes 16 or 18 – $5,150
- An ace or hole-in-one on hole 17 – $51,500
Birdies for Charity.
Along with our Tournament Charity Partners, registered Birdies For Charity organizations benefit from funds raised through the Principal Charity Classic. Birdies For Charity provides Iowa non-profit organizations with youth focused programming – as well as K-12 schools – with a unique and risk-free opportunity to raise additional funds year-round.
